Abstract
Wheat is most important crop for human consumption in Mongolia. Main method of increasing wheat production is developing new varieties with high yield and good guality. The short growing seasons, low precipitation and high transpiration are overriding contrains of Mongolian agriculture. The research orientation of wheat targeted on improvement of high grain production, high grain quality and tolerance drought and hot through the contribution of mutation breeding technique. Mutation breeding has been successful method of plant breeding. This paper is connected with investigation during 2001-2006 years. In our investigations 10 local breeding varieties were used for the creation of new mutant. Approximately 8,000 seeds of each varieties were treated chemical mutagen Sodium azide four different concentration (0.5mM; 0.75mM; 1.0mM; 1.5mM). The growth and yield characteristics including in flowering maturing date, plant height, productable stem number, yield per plot, resistance to drought and pests. This review covers enhancement of genetic diversity in wheat.
